10% Home: Keeping Our Community Strong

10% HomeA special initiative of Be Local Buy Local: Keep Your Bucks in Jackson Hole, 10% Home encourages local shoppers to make a small investment in Jackson's economy.

The next time you make a shopping list and before you search online or plan a drive out of town, make the effort to keep 10% more home. Your job and future in this valley are certain to benefit from the effort. The following statistics and possibilities are based on last year's sales tax and revenue numbers.

10% Home Could Provide:

  • $2,400,000: At the minimum, this would be the direct annual economic benefit that would stay right here at home.
  • 54 Year Round Jobs for Residents: These would be jobs that could be maintained at a pay rate of $45,000 per year.
  • Direct Positive Economic Impact: This is proactive approach to an uncertain economic climate. All we have to do is focus 10% more of our spending at home.

10% Home encourages local residents to begin adjusting their shopping habits by taking advantage of the holiday shopping initiative, SPLURGE. Visit www.jacksonholechamber.com/splurge for the latest promotions!

Town Square Lighting: Friday, November 25

hatThe Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the annual Town Square Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 25 from 5:00-7:00pm on Jackson's Town Square. This favorite holiday event features a visit from Santa Claus along with holiday music and Christmas carols from the Jackson Hole Community Band and Jackson Hole Chorale. Albertson's and McDonald's will provide cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Thousands of LED bulbs have been wrapped around the famous elk antler arches and strung around the stately trees (see the included photo taken last week). The lighting of the Town Square is a breathtaking moment as the bulbs sparkle to life. Children and families delight at the arrival of Santa Claus who enters with a team of sled dogs from Jackson Hole Iditarod. This year, a special group of princesses from Dancers' Workshop's Snow White will be assisting Santa and the children hoping to visit with him.

hatCalling Volunteers! Would you like to join the Princesses from Snow White and participate in this community tradition? The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help with refreshments and to help children with the steps to Santa's chair. Volunteering is a great opportunity to network and work with your fellow Chamber Members. For more information about Town Square Lighting and the volunteer opportunities, please contact Maureen Murphy, Director of Special Events, mo@jacksonholechamber.com or 307.733.3316x102.
