Community Invited to Submit Nominations for the 49th Annual Awards Ceremony
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce invites the community to submit nominations for the 49th Annual Awards Ceremony.
Nominations are currently being accepted for Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, G2G: Green-to-Green, Rising Star. In order to submit a nomination, simply email Director of Special Events Maureen Murphy, mo@jacksonholechamber.com. Specify the award and include the nominee's name, address, and phone number along the nominator's address, phone number, and email address. Nominations must be received by Monday, September 16.
In 2013, Business of the Year was presented to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Citizen of the Year was presented to Bob McLaurin, G2G: Green-to-Green was presented to Blue Spruce Cleaners, the Power of Place was presented to Pat and Jerry DeFrance, Rising Star was presented to Tom Fay, and the Western Hospitality Award was presented to the Jackson Police Department Citizen’s Mounted Unit.

Fall Arts Festival Artists on Social Media

#HealthyTetonCounty Survey
#HealthyTetonCounty, a collaborative community initiative, has launched an online survey to better understand the health priorities and the quality of life that residents experience living in the greater Teton area. Employers are encouraged to share this survey with their staff. Input will be integrated into a community health action plan in the spring. 4th Annual Jackson Hole Marathon
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the 4th Annual Jackson Hole Marathon Events on Saturday, August 30 beginning at 7:00am.
The marathon course will start near the Town Square, wind through neighborhoods within town, and then utilize the community pathway system to bring participants to the finish line in Teton Village. The marathon is a Boston Qualifier and the course is USATF certified. Nearly 500 participants from 45 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and the United Kingdom have registered.
After just three years, the Jackson Hole Marathon has become a popular destination race. Director of Special Events Maureen Murphy said, "The Jackson Hole Marathon has been recognized for its scenic route and was featured as the 'Race of the Month' for August in Runner's World Magazine."
Race Director Jay Batchen of Dreamchasers, Inc commented, "Marathon events tend to be touchstones for the participants. A couple who honeymooned in Jackson Hole 33 years ago will be running their 33rd half marathon together. Other notable participants include a family (mother, father, and daughter), six runners who are over 70 years of age, a second-year wheelchair participant, and a professional runner from Thailand."
Volunteer opportunities are available. Individuals and groups are invited to support this special Jackson Hole event by assisting at aid stations, at locations along the course, or at the finish line where stretching clinics, massage stations, and refreshments will be available.
Marathon participants, support teams, and spectators are invited to enjoy other events during the weekend, including the free Jackson Centennial Concert held in conjunction with JacksonHoleLive! The concert, featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd, will be held on Sunday, August 31. Visit jacksonholelivemusic.com.

The Power of Place Presented to Manuel Lopez
The Power of Place award was presented to Manuel Lopez, an elemental citizen of Jackson Hole. Serving under many titles, including Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Board Chair, Manuel has been a visionary in the business world and has spent his career working to make Jackson Hole a world-class alpine destination.
Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Chair Anna Olson commented, "The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is honored to have the opportunity to recognize the decades of hard work and contributions to our community given by Manuel Lopez. His dedication to business opportunity, community outreach and innovative thinking will leave a lasting legacy. Zions Bank Celebrates Jackson Hole Office
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and the Howdy Pardner Ambassador Club was pleased to host a ribbon cutting for Zions Bank, 25 South Willow Street, Suite 2 on Monday.
Chamber President/CEO Jeff Golightly and Mayor Mark Barron addressed the crowd that assembled to welcome the new business to Jackson Hole.
Celebrations were set to continue into the evening with dinner and a special screening of “The Grand Rescue: A true story of the 1967 Jenny Lake Rangers” at the Center for the Arts.

6th Annual Global Economic Forum Announced
The Jackson Hole Rotary Lunch Club and Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce will present the 6th Annual Global Economic Forum on Tuesday, August 26 from 12:00-1:30pm at Snow King Resort.
The forum will take a global perspective on the local economy. The featured panelists have world-class experience and the entire community is encouraged to take part in this very special event. Scheduled Panelists:
Mark Gordon: Currently serves as treasurer of the State of Wyoming. He has served on the Board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Board, and the board of the Nature Conservancy of Wyoming.
Robert Grady: Managing Director of Cheyenne Capital Fund and Chairman of the New Jersey State Investment Council which oversees the States $80 Billion pension system. He served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to President George H.W. Bush and as the #2 official at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and was a long-time partner at the investment bank Robertson Stephens & Company and then at the private equity firm Carlyle Group. He holds his AB from Harvard College and his MBA from Stanford Business School.
Kenneth Lay: Senior Managing Director for the Rock Creek Group, a firm in Washington DC managing $10 billion in investments for about 50 large institutions. Earlier in his career, he served as Treasurer of The World Bank, responsible for its $15 billion annually in bond-market financing and more than $100 billion in investments for the Bank, other international institutions and many of its shareholders. Ken is a member of the State Bar of California and holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation.
Wes Lucas: CEO of SIRVA Corporation, the world's largest relocation and moving company serving customers in about 150 countries through a network of over 100,000 staff globally in about 3000 locations under leading brands such as Allied and North American Van Lines, and SIRVA which provides over 100 different relocation services including realtors and temporary housing. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
Paul O'Brien: Head of fixed income for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund owned by Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates that was founded for the purpose of investing funds on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi. While the ADIA never publishes how much it has in assets, estimates have been as much as $875 billion USD. Previously he was a Section Chief on the staff of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, Head of European Economics for JP Morgan, and fixed income portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley.
