Golden Spur Presented to Lindsay Schaefer of the Wort Hotel

 

The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee is pleased to announce that the Golden Spur was presented to Lindsay Schaefer of the Wort Hotel at Business Over Breakfast on Thursday, August 1.

Lindsay’s caring nature is well regarded by her colleagues and guests at the Wort Hotel. One story in particular inspired Christie Reinhardt to submit a nomination for the Golden Spur. A hotel guest was planning to meet with a business colleague in Old Faithful and was desperate to find a ride. Visiting form Asia, he expected that it would be easy to hop on a train or a bus. After diligently working but failing to find a ride that would accommodate the guest’s budget and schedule, Lindsay offered to drive the guest to Old Faithful…on her day off!

Christie wrote, “There are many many stories that I could share about Lindsay's caring nature. Just last week, we had a guest that caught a few lake trout and he wanted to freeze them and take them home. The health department frowns upon storing such an item in our kitchen, so Lindsay offered to take the trout home, freeze it for him, and bring it back in the morning on her own time.” She concluded, “Lindsay is a true ambassador of Jackson Hole and should be recognized as such.”

A Letter from Chair Scott Anderson

Under the leadership of Past Chair Jim Waldrop and President/CEO Jeff Golightly, along with a great Board of Directors and our amazing staff, we accomplished a lot last year. I am excited to Chair the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce for 2013-14 and am looking forward to another productive year. I'm asking our members to help me in my effort to encourage us all to participate in our community and economy. Buy Local and Be Local. This means individuals shopping with friends and neighbors and businesses seeking services and products from other local businesses. It means reading your local papers and listening to your local radio stations. It also means participating in and volunteering for the many local nonprofit efforts that sustain our community and celebrate our heritage. Be Local and when someone asks if you are a local, you can happily say, "YES."

RSVP for Business Over Breakfast

The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce will present Business Over Breakfast on Thursday, August 1 from 7:30-9:00am at Snow King Hotel. The monthly meeting for the business community is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP via ChamberMaster or email events@jacksonholechamber.com.

Featured Speakers: Rebecca Reimers with Snake River Fund and Steve Ashworth with Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation will share information about the BLM Land transfer of various parcels throughout the Snake River Corridor and what it means to the community. Click here for information.Cheryl Riley, Head of External Affairs for AT&T in Wyoming, will share information about the importance of telecommunications in Jackson Hole and Chad Krahel of AT&T will be available to answer any technical questions. The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee will present the Golden Spur. 

In addition to the featured speakers, the event includes breakfast and time for networking and announcements. Look for Francis Koerber of Teton Virtuoso who will be providing music during check-in and Lance Fitzsimmons will be taking free social media head shots for members.

Best of the Road: Vote for Jackson Hole!

Rand McNally’s Best of the Road winners are acknowledged at travel and trade shows across the country and the 2012 Best of the Road Awards were presented at the 98^thannual DMAI conference in Seattle. DMAI, a popular organization for DMOs, draws more than 1,000 attendees.  Kent Elliott, Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Destination Sales Manager, represents Jackson Hole on behalf of the Chamber and Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board. He commented, “Destinations recognized by Best of the Road receive an incredible amount of exposure at some of the biggest travel and tradeshows in the country. Each quarter, the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce awards the Golden Spur to the individual or business in our community that went above and beyond the expectations of a customer to provide genuine western hospitality.

Winners of the Golden Spur receive public recognition via press releases, social media, and announcements at various Chamber events; a prize package worth more than $500 donated by local businesses who support western hospitality, including Jackson Bootlegger, Blue Lion Restaurant, The Harmonic Spa, Judge Roy Bean's Old Time Photos, Lexington Jackson Hole, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and MADE; and a beautiful award worthy of framing to be displayed at your place of business.

Mad River's Excellent Chamber Mixer

Mad River will host "Mad River's Excellent Chamber Mixer" on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Mad River Wedge, 1255 South Highway 89 just north of Smith's on Broadway.

The Mad River Mixer has quickly become a popular tradition. The barbecue-themed menu is back by popular demand with ribs and the fixins grilled just right by the Mad River guides. The event will feature beer and wine, sunshine (hopefully), good friends, and good food.
