Connect with the Community at Business Over Breakfast



BOBThe Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce will present Business Over Breakfast on Thursday, February 7 from 7:30-9:00am at Spring Creek Ranch. Business Over Breakfast is a monthly meeting for the business community held the first Thursday of each month. In addition to a special program, the event includes breakfast and time for networking and announcements.

Featured Speakers
  • David Elan on the Wyoming Free Tax Program: Wyoming Free Tax Services is collaboration between the IRS, the Teton County Library, and the Latino Resource Center. Volunteers help to prepare federal tax returns for taxpayers of modest income with friendly service. The program is completely free. A referral to the service is an opportunity for local business to offer a valuable employee benefit, without any cost to the employer or employee. David is the Managing Member of Income Focus Portfolio Management, LLC.
  • Dr. Devra Davis on Preventing Influenza: According to the Centers for Disease Control, influenza has become widespread in Wyoming. A growing number of flu-related emergency room visits and hospitalizations have been reported - some of which could have been avoided. Dr. Devra Davis will discuss steps you can take to prevent the spread of the flu in your business and in the community.  
  • Oly Olson on the Howdy Pardner Ambassador Club: The Howdy Pardners are made up of Jackson Hole area business and professional people who enjoy serving together and socializing. The airport welcome program is one of the most popular initiatives. The Howdy Pardners serve mimosas or orange juice to travelers arriving at the Jackson Hole Airport on weekends during ski season. Consider volunteering for this fun networking opportunity!

International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race Begins Today



Stage StopThe International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR), the largest sled dog race in the lower 48 states, will be held January 25-February 2. The race begins in Jackson with pre-race festivities. The race begins with a run through the streets of Jackson to Snow King where a torchlight parade and fireworks will illuminate the winter night.  
  
In 1996 Frank Teasley, with the help of public nurse Jayne Ottman, launched the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race to showcase the beautiful state of Wyoming and to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public.

Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa recently remodeled and renamed their restaurant, which opened on December 21. Executive Chef Kevin Humphreys elevates traditional "mountain cuisine" by transforming simple, home-style favorites into flavorful, seasonally-infused dishes. Guests will discover a delectable assortment of appetizers and shared plates -- perfect for après ski -- as well as a variety of meat, game, and fish entrée dishes. The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Government & Community Affairs Committee has released the 2013 Legislative Summary of bills that are being supported, considered, and set aside. Click here to download the summary.

Supported legislation includes
  • HB 110: Off-road vehicle gasoline tax distribution-sunset. 
  • HB 111: Support changing the current regulation where sales tax is added to mandatory tips. 
  • HB 112: Support changing current regulations to allow management of restaurants to develop plans where servers share tips with other service support staff (bussers, host, and bar staff). 
  • Senate File 23: Challenge loan program-natural gas vehicle infrastructure. 
  • HB 44: Search and rescue donations.
