The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is proud to
announce that it has achieved the second year Sustainable Tourism Education
Program’s (STEP) Bronze certification through Sustainable Travel International.
Robert Chappell, Senior Director,
Standards & Certification, said that the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is
an excellent example of how an organization implements the STEP standard into
business operations.
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce was the
first Chamber or Destination Marketing Organization in the world to become
STEP-certified in 2012. This program recognizes the Chamber and others
businesses for a commitment to sustainability and for demonstrating
responsibility through best practices
that address environmental, economic, and social impacts guided by the
philosophy of the triple bottom line: people, planet, profit.
Individual businesses and organizations complete
the STEP certification process in order to become more sustainable, to enjoy
the related economic benefits of sustainable operations, and to demonstrate a
verifiable commitment to responsible practices to visitors and staff. STEP is
among the first global standards to be officially recognized by the Global
Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
