National Parks Day Luncheon to Feature Discussion with Superintendents

ChamberThe community is invited to a national parks day luncheon on Tuesday, May 14 from 12:00-1:00pm at Teton Science Schools Jackson Campus, 700 Coyote Canyon Road.

The Jackson Hole Rotary Lunch Club and the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce will present the luncheon featuring Grand Teton National Park Superintendent Mary Gibson Scott and Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk. Learn about the state of the national parks today and hear about plans for the future. Questions will be accepted with RSVPs. Special thanks to Senator Leland Christensen for organizing this important community event.

A recent National Park Service (NPS) report for 2011 showed that 3,394,326 visitors to Yellowstone National Park spent $332,975,000 in communities surrounding the park. This spending supported 5,041 jobs in the local area. 2,587,437 visitors to Grand Teton National Park spent over $436,416,000 in gateway communities surrounding the park. That spending, in turn, supported 6,397 jobs in the northwestern Wyoming communities of Jackson, Teton Village, and Dubois, as well as the nearby Idaho communities of Driggs and Victor. To download the report visit www.nature.nps.gov/socialscience/products.cfm#MGM  and click on Economic Benefits to Local Communities from National Park Visitation, 2011. How can the parks work better with your business?
