The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is pleased to  announce that Director of Special Events Maureen Murphy was named as Citizen of the Month by the Jackson Hole Rotary Lunch Club on Tuesday, September 16.

Maureen has been a member of the Chamber staff for six years this October. She oversees events including Jackson Hole Winter Fest, Elk Fest, Old West Days, the Howdy Pardner Ambassador Club Fourth of July Parade, Jackson Hole Marathon, Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, and more.

President/CEO Jeff Golightly commented, "We are pleased that Rotary recognized Maureen. We have known for quite some time that she not only works hard to run events that add to Jackson’s economy, but that she is also a great citizen that is passionate about her community."

Maureen has been engaged with other community organizations including Soroptimist International of Jackson where she has served on the leadership team and helped to ensure the success of events such as "Bras for a Cause," which raises funds for the Wyoming Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the St. John’s Medical Center Women’s Health Care Center.

General Manager of Homewood Suites by Hilton Joe Madera, a member of the Rotary Club and of the Chamber's Executive Committee, nominated Maureen for the award. He commented, "Maureen’s efforts have not only contributed significantly to our local economy, but have also helped garner domestic and international recognition to our destination.”

The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival recently completed it's record-breaking 30th year. The celebration of culture and community was capped off by the record-breaking success of the Quick Draw Art Sale and Auction featuring Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey and Joshua Tobey. Maureen managed dozens of events and hundreds of volunteer hours during the twelve-day festival that took her from setting up tents to picking up garbage and from working with nervous Quick Draw artists to charming art buyers. Next on Maureen's schedule is assisting with the Town of Jackson Centennial Celebration on Saturday, September 20.
